Corona Virus Update - Summer 2020

At Top of the Woods we are a low-density site, with 30 camping & glamping pitches spread over a huge 27 acres site, enabling our guests to easily social distance. All our pitches are at least 10 metres apart.

In readiness for opening this summer, we are putting new social distancing measures in place around our shared / communal spaces, so we can keep each other safe on site.

We have always operated a rigorous cleaning programme across our site and accommodation, and we will be increasing our efforts to meet the latest recommendations. We are monitoring the situation closely and will ensure relevant UK/Welsh government recommendations are implemented.

These are some of the measures we are introducing for summer 2020:

  • Reducing capacity on site to enable implementation of new Covid procedures

  • New group glamping social bubble, with private facilities in their own private meadow

  • Check-in time moved back to 15:30, to enable us to complete the new cleaning regime

  • New check-in process to enable social distancing of arriving guests

  • Additional hand sanitisers and cleaning materials provided across the site

  • Increased cleaning of communal facilities

  • Self-serve cool bricks for campers & glampers cool boxes

  • Time slots for showers, with deep cleaning between times

  • Revised onsite activities to enable social distancing

  • Contactless payments

  • Communal weekend food services suspended

Frequently Asked Questions

When will be you be open?

Our campsite will be allowed to open from the 25th July

There is reduced capacity this year and all toilets and showers are shared facilities, accept the bell tent bubble ( with increased covid cleaning regime in place as per government guidelines issued)

There is limited availability across all units for the school holidays (thought plenty of availability for September) so please email to discuss what ideal dates you are looking for and if we are able to accommodate.

What happens if I have booked and there is a second wave and\or further lockdown restrictions?

If you are unable to come for your holiday because we are required to close again due to Covid 19, we will issue you with a credit note to the value of your booking, which can be used for a future stay with us.

In all other scenarios, our regular Booking Terms apply.

Will there be onsite activities this summer?

Yes! We are working with our onsite activity providers to modify their sessions to enable social distancing. This will mean reducing capacity and some activities will be run as private sessions for one family\friend group. You will also need to prebook for the Yoga & Bushcraft - see details below

Our activity providers are self-employed individuals or local small businesses, so further changes may be announced.

What do I need to do to keep my family, friend's and other guests safe while onsite?

Good question!

Our team will be doing everything we can to maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene around the site, but ultimately guests are responsible for their own hygiene that of their dependants. The considerate actions of guests will also have a huge impact on the safety of our team and our other guests.

  • Please wash or sanitise hands when you leave and arrive on the campsite

  • Please wash or sanitise hands before and after using communal facilities

  • Please be extra aware of your children's behaviour. Making friends and having fun is what holidays are for, but for guests' safety this year, families and groups will need to play within their own social bubbles or ensure children are adhering to 2 metre social distancing whilst playing

  • Please ensure children are supervised when using communal facilities, including phone charging station and ice brick freezer. It is imperative that guests are not handling each other's belonging at this time.

  • Please ensure your children do not play in or around the toilet and shower facilities. Games of 'hide & seek' in the toilet and shower cubicles would make it impossible for us to maintain necessary hygiene standards!

  • Please ensure 2 metre social distancing around other guests, staff and when you are out and about

Will the children be able to play on the hammocks and the strawbale in the Dutch Barn ?

This year we will remove these facilities from the Dutch Barn as its especially difficult for children to social distance in this context.

I know the kids really love them & we love watching them play and creating amazing straw structures, however I am sure you understand why we need to do things differently this year

However, why not bring your favourite outdoor games to play at your pitch or a games compendium so if the weather is not playing ball you can play games snuggled up in your tents.

There will be a long boat hammock available for each of the Nature Dome bookings.

What do if I develop Covid symptoms during my stay?

If you or others in your booking group develop Covid 19 symptoms during your stay, it wont be safe to continue your stay with us.

You should leave for home immediately and inform us via telephone (01239 842 208) or email explaining you have had to leave. Please maximise distance from guests and staff and minimise the use our facilities before leaving.

We will provide a credit note for any unused nights of your booking.

Do I need to wear a mask on site? or around Wales?

In Wales, the guidance is currently advisory if you are not able to social distance.  Though, for Scotland & England this is/or will be mandatory on public transport and in shops.

There is plenty of space to social distance on site however, if it makes you feel comfortable to wear a mask that is completely your decision (unless guidance becomes mandatory).

The wearing of masks is more to do with protecting others so you may feel when you are in town / around the community / public transport that it is courteous to do so.

You will see our staff, Jon & me wearing a mask when we are performing our cleaning duties as a safety precaution.

What else will be reopening during my holiday e.g public toilets, pubs etc..

This is Wales’s current timetable for reopening the tourism & hospitality sector
