At Top of the Woods we are a low-density site camping & glamping site, which makes it easy for our guests to social distance when on site. 

These are some of the measures we have introduced to keep you Covid safe:

 

  • Check-in time is 15:30 to complete the new Covid cleaning regime.

  • An outdoor reception area for arriving guests to enable social distancing during check in.

  • Safari Lodges have a private toilet & shower facilities on their pitches.

  • New wash up areas in the Pioneer Camps & Safari Lodge meadows.

  • Extra hand sanitisers and cleaning materials provided across the site.

  • Increased cleaning of communal facilities & accommodation to include antiviral spraying.

  • All camping & glamping pitches are at least 10 metres apart.

  • Time slots for showers, with deep cleaning between times. 

  • Revised onsite activities to enable social distancing.

  • Contactless payments & pre-payment on food bookings

We have always operated a rigorous cleaning programme across accommodation, and have increased our efforts to meet the latest UK / Welsh recommendations. 

Frequently Asked Questions

When will be you be open?

Our campsite is currently planned to open from April 30th.

 

The Welsh Government have not yet provided an exact opening date for campsites, but the expectation that this will be allowed by this date. 

What is the Covid site etiquette when onsite?

  • 2 metre social distancing -  Between guests, staff, and the local community

  • Wash hands regularly 

    • Before & after using shared facilities

    • On arrival & when leaving the campsite

  • Be kind and considerate - The considerate actions of guests will have a huge impact on the safety of our team and other guests.

Will there be an onsite food service this summer?

Yes!

 

There will be fantastic local guest pops up restaurants this year, a new inhouse menu from our own chef Jonny and other foodie options for you to choose from and delivered in a covid safe way!

 

Will there be onsite activities this summer?  

Yes! 

 

We have worked with our onsite activity providers to modify their sessions to provide a covid safe environment & social distancing. This will mean reduced capacity and some activities will be run as private sessions for one family/friend group.

 

All activities will need to be pre-booked as availability is limited.

 

What extra cleaning measures are in place? 

  • Additional and frequent cleaning of all high-contact areas and shared facilities, using British Standards approved disinfectants.

  • An increased number of hand-sanitiser stations and hand washing facilities across the campsite

  • Bed linen provided with glamping units has been cleaned and prepared in a commercial laundry which fully complies with Covid guidance and regulations. The linen is provided in sealed packs, with 1 pack per bed. Guests will open the linen packs and make up their bed. 

  • Staff will wear appropriate PPE while completing cleaning routines.

  • On check out guests will be required to strip their beds and put their used linen on the beds.

Do I need to wear a mask on site? or around Wales?

In Wales, masks must be worn by anyone aged 11 or over (unless you have a medical exemption) in indoor public spaces, where a 2-metre social distance cannot be met and on public transport. 

  ​

There is plenty of space to social distance on site however, if it makes you feel comfortable to wear a mask that is completely your decision (unless guidance becomes mandatory). 

 

Guests who have booked the Dutch Barn Cinema, will be required to wear masks because it is inside an enclosed barn, and in the main wash up area where social distancing is more difficult. 

 

You will see our staff, Jon & me wearing a mask when we are performing our cleaning duties as a safety precaution.

What do I need to do to keep my family, friend's and other guests safe while onsite?

Good question!

 

Our team will be doing everything we can to maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene around the site, but ultimately guests are responsible for their own hygiene and that of their dependants. The considerate actions of guests will also have a huge impact on the safety of our team and our other guests.

  • Please wash or sanitise hands regularly, maintain 2m social distancing and wear your mask in indoor public spaces. 
     

  • Please be extra aware of your children's behaviour. Making friends and having fun is what holidays are for, but for guests' safety this year, families and groups will need to play within their own social bubbles or ensure children are adhering to 2 metre social distancing whilst playing 

 

  • Please ensure children are supervised when using communal facilities, including phone charging station and ice brick freezer. It is imperative that guests are not handling each other's belongings at this time. Please ensure your children do not play in or around the toilet and shower facilities.​

What happens if there are local lockdown restrictions?

If you are unable to come on your holiday because it is not legal to do so because of covid restrictions.

 

As part of of our Coronavirus Booking Guarantee  we will issue you with a credit note to the value of your booking or the option to change to a later date.

 

In all other scenarios, our regular Booking Terms apply.

What happens if I need to cancel my stay because someone in my booking party is showing Covid symptoms?

If anyone is in your party feels unwell or is showing covid symptoms you must not come to stay as it is not safe

 

Cancellation in the Event of Covid-19 Infection

✓ You or a member of your party have a positive Covid-19 test

✓ You or a member of your party have to self-isolate due to contact with a Covid-19 sufferer

✓ You or a member of your party develop Covid-19 symptoms and are awaiting test results

If you have to cancel for the above reasons, then the ‘Cancellation by You' clause will apply.

It is advisable to take out your own travel insurance or the Top of the Woods Peace of Mind Guarantee

 

Cancellation by You

✓ Up to 21 days before your holidays, we will refund the balance payment, minus 3rd party fees*

✓ Deposits are non-refundable

✓ Within 21 days no refund.  Unless you have taken out a Top of the Woods Peace of Mind Guarantee

What if I develop Covid symptoms during my stay? 

If you or others in your booking group develop Covid 19 symptoms during your stay, it wont be safe to continue your stay with us. 

You should leave for home immediately and inform us via telephone 01239 842 208 or email info@topofthewoods.co.uk explaining you have had to leave. 

 

Please maximise distance from guests and staff and minimise the use our facilities before leaving. ​

What else will be reopening during my holiday e.g public toilets, pubs etc..
