Family Glamping Holidays – What kind of family glamper are you?
Brighter mornings, lighter evenings. It can only mean one thing, it’s time to plan a family break but how do you find a holiday everyone loves?
One word. Glamping. Let’s be honest, glamping accommodation is a winner because it gives you all the joy of the great outdoors with added eco-luxury and none of the hassle.
As a glamper, holiday prep couldn’t be simpler, just bring your clothes, a towel and food (unless you plan to snuffle our food options on site) Instead of packing your camping gear you can spend more time recharging with your family tribe.
What’s your glamping style?
At Top of the Woods in Wales our glamping accommodation comes with stunning Pembrokeshire views, designed eco-luxury, and lots of space to roam free. (Everything is kitted out for self-catering - just bring your towels.)
Each glamping pad has its own style. What kind of family glamper are you? A Wild Safari Family, Nature Dome Dweller or a Pioneer Adventurer?

The Wild Safari Family: Eco-Boutique Safari Lodge
Perfect for: Slightly larger families - they sleep up to 6 - or experienced family campers who are keen to leave the hassles of camping behind, but still want to walk on the wild side and get outdoors.
Swap the vast savannahs of the Serengeti for the expansive wildflower meadows and epic views of Pembrokeshire National Park (the only coastal national park in the UK). Take in a deep breath and imagine yourself on the veranda soaking in the views ...
Or, enjoy the thrill of spotting the Big Five – buzzards, red kites, bats, barn owls and swallows (though we can’t guarantee you’ll spy unicorns… ;))
Get your outdoor cook on over an open fire (BBQ and firepit included) share the tales of your day’s adventures.
Space, space and more space
The spacious Safari Lodges (6 x 9 metres) sleep 6 people and are 3 metres high, the same height as a 2-storey house! Thankfully, this means if you’re here for 2 weeks or have grandparents with you on holiday, you have plenty of room to be together.
Oh yes, space makes for happier family glamping adventures.😊
Our Safari Lodges’ furniture is all designed and made on-site by local crafters, using local woods. The result is sustainable, stylish, one-off safari designs that are also good for the planet. Sleep well and stay cosy during the savannah nights on luxurious feather bedding, crisp linen and Welsh wool blankets. There is the convenience of your own compost toilet, cabin shower and hot wash up station.

Submerged in nature - from the cocoon of the Nature Dome
Perfect for: families who love being outdoors, but who are not natural campers, or are new to camping and want to earn their first camping stripes!
This Nature Dome with its massive panoramic window brings you epic views and a sense of calm.
Eco cool - for all the family
The Nature Domes are the ultimate in eco cool. Younger kids love the open-plan layout as you can all hang out together as a glamping family.
Parents can enjoy relaxing in comfort too. Sleep soundly on quality beds (a king-size and two singles) made by a sustainable independent furniture maker.
Every day, you can enjoy a luxurious lie-in, make your morning coffee and then sneak back to bed to watch the wildlife at work and play as you relax.
Protected from the elements
Whatever the weather outside, stay cosy with tent insulation and a wood-burning stove, wrapped up with Welsh blankets and sheepskin throws. The big vistas are perfect for weather-watching or dark sky stargazing. (Did you know we’re the no 1 site in the UK for stargazing?)

Frontier adventurers with eco luxury – Pioneer Camps
Perfect for: experienced family campers looking for the ultimate camping adventure, set in a safe wilderness, or newbie family campers up for discovering their frontier spirit.
The Pioneer Camps are also ideal for small groups or extended family - we can arrange conjoined camps, so you can be together on your next adventure.
Explore and capture that sense of freedom of those early pioneers - the original camping adventurers, with your tribe. See what the Pioneer Camps can offer you.
Jon (joint owner of Top of the Woods, with Soo) designed the roomy Pioneer Camps so our guests could experience frontier outdoor living - without any of the hardship! Leave the everyday stress of your hi-tech lives behind. It's time to slow down, connect with nature, and enjoy the simple things, like bathing outdoors!
The Pioneer Lodge offers a cosy space for hanging out and sleeping. If the weather is not playing ball, enjoy family game time in the glow of your wood burning stove.
An iconic wagon kitchen and diner is a focal point of the camp with firepit and cooking pans made of cast-iron to give you an authentic camp cooking experience. Outdoor cooking always tastes better, but cooking on cast iron pans evokes the original outdoor cooking vibe. The flavour is phenomenal. You've just got to try it.
Spend the evenings together telling tales around the campfire and take advantage of the amazing dark skies for stargazing here in Pembrokeshire. You may even spot the wonder of the Milky Way on a clear night. (Check out our Dark Skies Safari too.
