Why Camping in West Wales is the Most Paw-some Dog-Friendly Holiday

I’ve been all over the UK with my family, but West Wales is my favourite staycation spot as they’re just barking mad for dogs.

Find out my top 4 reasons why camping in West Wales is the most dog-friendly holiday (and hoomans love it too).

1. Dogs love camping

What’s not to love about camping? For starters, we can spend our time outdoors, running around and then snuggle up with our families 24/7. (It’s not just hoomans who love getting cosy in their camping onesies.)

Leftovers from the campfire are mouth-watering, especially sausages, sausages, and more sausages! The two-legged folk seem to love toasted marshmallows, but I’m not a massive fan as they stick to my teeth.

Make sure you head to super dog-friendly camping and glamping sites – like Top of the Woods! That’s where I can take it easy in the hammock or enjoy being taxied around in a wheelbarrow, or meet Dylan the camp dog and the new puppy Dirk who is a trainee camp dog. I think I would love that job too but i would miss my family too much!

Check out this blog for their dog-friendly camping tips.

2. Walkies

Us pooches just can’t get enough of walkies! We, dogs are spoilt for choice in West Wales for both woodland and coastal walks. I love meeting other pooches along the way, chasing squirrels, and carrying the biggest sticks.

When we’re dog-tired, we find a pub with a fire for all the family. Did I say I love being with them all the time? There are loads of dog-friendly pubs and cafes in West Wales; it’s best to check with the owner before entering, but usually, they welcome us in with a treat.

We love Top of the Woods as there are plenty of Welsh woodland dog walks on the doorstep. (The hoomans tell me it’s 325 acres of woodland which is a lot of doggie miles). The best bit is that we can get back to the campsite after a long walk we can chill in the hammocks (if we can get the mini hoomans out of them) and wait for our dinner to be cooked BTW did you say sausages are on the menu? My favourite!

3. Dog-friendly beaches in West Wales

Beaches are the best thing. Ever! Luckily, West Wales has some of the most glorious dog-friendly beaches around – but remember to ask your hoomans to check if there are any restrictions in the summer.

I bark at my hoomans to take me to Poppit Sands (which is dog-friendly all year round) so that I can catch up with the canine crew - it’s a bit like a doggie disco on Sunday mornings. I’m also partial to wild swimming, but my family make a fuss when I do the shake and dry (what’s a towel?!) The beach is full of fun stuff, who can resist the sniff of seaweed?!

After all that fresh air and digging in the sand for pooch treasure, we head off to Crwst Poppit for some treats. I opt for an Utterly Mutterly, Welsh ice-cream and the hoomans snuffle Crwst’s doughnuts & coffee which they make lots of funny sounds of delight, very cute but so undignified!

4. Dog-friendly Adventures

Dogs are adventure-seekers and our hoomans should take our lead by biting into life, seizing the moment, and enjoying what the natural world has to offer. I’m always barking on about these Find Your Wild glamping holidays which help us dogs immerse in nature from canoeing to coastal foraging. Pooches are even invited to go dolphin spotting on dog-friendly excursions.

After the trip, I love to share selfies with the family on #DogsofInstagram so that my poochy mates get jealous when they’re stuck at home. Don’t be left wishing you were here, persuade your hoomans to take you on a dog-friendly camping holiday to West Wales this year too.
