I’ve been all over the UK with my hooman family, but Top of the Woods Glamping campsite in West Wales is my favourite staycation spot as they’re just barking mad for dogs. There are paw-some views, lots of pooch adventures and a lot of dog-friendly activities, they have even had dog festivals in the past – wooftastic!
Whether you love chasing sticks old day by wild streams, digging tunnels on the beaches to find your bone treasure or having cosy nights under starry skies with your hoomans, find out why this is one doggy holiday place you need to try out!
Here are my top 4 reasons why camping at Top of the Woods glamping campsite in Pembrokeshire is the most dog-friendly camping holiday in West Wales!
1. Dogs love camping and glamping!
Big Dave looking handsome in his camping onesie outside his glamping Pioneer Camp.
All of Top of the Woods glamping accommodation is dog friendly, which include also the Safari Lodges and the Nature Domes at Top of the Woods glamping campsite in Pembrokeshire.
What’s not to love about camping? For starters, we can spend our time outdoors, running around all day on great holiday camping adventures and then snuggle up with our families 24/7. (It’s not just hoomans who love getting cosy in their camping onesies.)
Leftovers from the campfire are mouth-watering, especially sausages, sausages, and more sausages! The two-legged folk seem to love toasted marshmallows, but I’m not a massive fan as they stick to my teeth.
At Top of the Woods campsite, you can take it easy in the hammock or enjoy being taxied around in a wheelbarrow or meet Dylan the camp dog and the new puppy Dirk who is a trainee camp dog. I think I would love that job too, but I would miss my family too much!
2. Walkies, walkies and more walkies....
Us pooches just can’t get enough of walkies! We are spoiled with coastal and woodland walks to choose from and at Top of the Woods glamping campsite in Pembrokeshire, there is 325 acres of woodland directly from the campsite.
This literally means we can walk all day with our hoomans, meet new doggy friends, chase squirrels, carry around big sticks! AND we get to jump in the waterfall!
When we’re dog-tired, we find a pub with a fire for all the family. Did I say I love being with them all the time? There are loads of dog-friendly pubs and cafes in West Wales; it’s best to check with the owner before entering, but usually, they welcome us in with a treat.
The best bit is when we get back to the campsite after a long walk we can chill in the hammocks (if we can get the mini hoomans out of them) and wait for our dinner to be cooked BTW did you say sausages are on the menu? My favourite!
Top of the Woods glamping campsite is the pawfect destination for all those doggos who love camping and exploring with their family on holiday in West Wales.
3. Dog-friendly beaches in West Wales
We asked Dylan and Dirk the two campsite dogs at Top of the Woods campsite, the inside view of the best dog-friendly beaches around for us pooches. They told us that in West Wales there are amazing dog friendly beaches about - we just need to get the hoomans to check if there are any restrictions in the summer.
Dylan the wheaten terrier campsite dog, says his favourite is Poppit Sands beach so he can catch up with the canine crew (its dog-friendly all year round & in the summer you need to use the right-hand side of the beach). On a Sunday morning - it’s a bit like a doggie disco with all the pups enjoying the space for a beach run off and it’s the closest dog friendly beach to Top of the Woods campsite in Pembrokeshire.
Little Dirk the cockerpoo campsite dog also loves a bit of wild swimming too at this beach, but he can’t understand why his family makes a fuss when he does the shake and dry (what’s a towel?!) The beach is full of fun stuff, who can resist the sniff of seaweed?!
After all that fresh air and digging in the sand for pooch treasure, we head off to Crwst Poppit for some treats. Dylan and Dirk love the Utterly Mutterly, dog ice-cream and mum and dad snuffle Crwst’ s doughnuts & coffee which they make lots of funny sounds of delight, very cute but so undignified!
4. Find Your Wild - Dog-friendly Adventures
I’m always barking on about these Find Your Wild camping and glamping holidays at Top of the Woods campsite, which help us dogs be in nature whilst having a wild adventure with our family.
Both the Wild River Trek Canoeing and Wild Coastal Foraging, welcomes us adventurous pooches to come along and have fun. Also, some of the dolphin spotting boats are dog-friendly too!
After our camping and glamping trip, I love to share selfies with the family on Instagram and TikTok so my poochy mates get jealous when they’re stuck at home.
