A few quick things to know when you arrive
• Drive slowly: Our track is an unpaved farm lane, so please take it slowly, especially if your car is low or fully loaded. Unfortunately we can’t take responsibility for any vehicle damage.
• Parking & Reception: As you drive down the track you’ll see the parking area sign on your right. Please park up and walk to the courtyard following the Reception signs. Reception is in the old cart house on your right-hand side as you enter the courtyard.
• Dogs on leads: We love dogs at Top of the Woods, but please keep them on leads when you arrive and throughout your stay.
• Electric vehicles: If you’re arriving in an EV, please park in the car park and pop into Reception before heading to your pitch. We’ll book you into the next available charging slot.
• Check-in: Once parked, check in at Reception and your camp host will show you to your accommodation and help you get settled in.
• If no one is at Reception: Your camp host may be helping other guests arrive. Feel free to grab a wheelbarrow from behind Reception and start unloading, someone will be with you shortly 😊
• The campsite is car free: Cars remain in the main car park unless you are staying in one of our Power & Park Up pitches.
• Need help with luggage? If you have any mobility issues, just let us know when you arrive and your camp host will be happy to help
• Unexpected delays: If likely to arrive after check-in hours, please call the office on 01239 842208 or WhatsApp 07396 840370 to let us know, as a member of the team may need to wait at Reception for your arrival.

A Few Helpful Things To Know During Your Stay
Your camp host will go through most things when you check in, but we know it can be a lot to take in after a long drive, so here are a few useful things to know before you arrive 😊
Car-free meadows
Most of the campsite is car free apart from the Friends Meadow and Power & Park Up pitches. Cars stay in the main car park and wheelbarrows are provided to help move luggage to your pitch. If you have any mobility issues, please let us know and we’ll be happy to help.
Electric vehicle charging
Please book EV charging at Reception when you arrive. Charging spaces are limited and allocated in time slots, so please don’t plug directly into charging units without checking in first.
Electric hook-ups - North Star or Milky Way Pitch
If you decide you’d like electric hook-up during your stay and haven’t already booked it, please arrange this at Reception on arrival before use. Please note these hook-ups are not suitable for charging electric vehicles.
Mobile signal & Wi-Fi
Mobile signal can be patchy due to our rural location. Limited guest Wi-Fi is available around Reception, the courtyard, Soo's guest shed and the Dutch Barn, it’s also a great chance to switch off, go offline and slow down for a while.
Charging small devices
Charging points for phones and small devices are available in the Dutch Barn. These aren’t suitable for high-powered items such as hairdryers or fridges or electric scooters.
Quiet time & no music
Top of the Woods is a peaceful, nature-led site. Quiet time is between 10pm and 8am. Music played through speakers, portable speakers, sound systems or amplifiers is not permitted anywhere onsite at any time.
Campfires & BBQs
Campfires and BBQs are only allowed in raised firepits or BBQs. All glamping accommodation includes these and camping guests can hire them during their stay.
-
Firewood and kindling are available from Reception.
-
Disposable BBQs are not allowed.
-
Please don’t gather or forage wood from around the site for firepits or wood burners, fallen wood provides an important natural habitat and because it isn’t seasoned and dry, it creates lots of smoke, a cold fire and is unpleasant for other guests, as well as damaging the wood burners.
Wood burners
Please only use wood supplied by Top of the Woods in the glamping wood burners. This keeps them safe for guests and working properly.
Dogs & other pets
Dogs must remain on leads at all times onsite, including around pitches. Please use the bins provided for dog waste. You’re welcome to take dogs into the woodland for some off-lead exploring and exercise.
If you are bringing other pets, this must be agreed with Top of the Woods before arrival and they must be safely restrained onsite for their own safety and the comfort of other guests.
All animals, including dogs and other pets, must not be left unattended in accommodation or on pitches at any time. Pets remain the responsibility of their owner at all times.
Smoking & vaping
Smoking and vaping are not permitted inside glamping tents or covered communal spaces. Please dispose of cigarettes responsibly.
Recycling
We’re proud to be an eco-friendly campsite and recycling facilities are available throughout the site. Your camp host will explain everything when you arrive.
Water & Wastewater
All taps provide fresh spring drinking water, unless they say otherwise.
We use a private water and wastewater system (we are off grid for water), please be mindful of water usage and don’t leave taps running. Drainage is to a private sewage treatment facility, this is biological process and can be easily upset by harsh chemicals or non-degradable material (e.g. antibacterial wipes, baby wipes, sanitary towels), so please don’t flush anything like that down the toilets.
Prickly things
The site was a working farm so there's still barbed wire fencing in some areas, as well as thorny hedgerows, brambles and nettles etc. We work hard to keep this to a minimum, but please be careful! Please take care, especially with little explorers 😊
