What a wonderfully wild 10th year 2023 was! Time flew, hosting our lovely guests, experiencing the beauty of Wild West Wales, and waking up with wild swimming!
As our first decade at Top of the Woods comes to an end, Jon and I have been thinking about what’s next. How can we enrich this magical spot in Pembrokeshire, for ourselves and our guests, over the next 10 years?
Read on for a sneak peek at what’s new for our guests at our glamping and camping site for 2024 (and the decade ahead…)
Wild Spaces
As we marked our tenth birthday this year, it was a chance to celebrate our dream of creating a sustainable nature venue loved by our guests. For the next decade, developing Wild Spaces is the focus - for our guests, for nature, and for the future.
Rewilding projects are a big inspiration, which seek to restore ecosystems so that nature can do what it does best, take care of itself. It’s what we’ve always been about - we don’t just seek to protect nature but restore and enrich it.
Next year marks the beginning of our Wild Spaces Trails. Over time, there will be something for everyone - family and play adventure trails, dog-friendly walks, as well as secluded spots to de-stress and immerse yourself in nature.
When you return to Top of the Woods, imagine exploring and discovering wild spaces you didn’t even know existed.
These Wild Spaces will not appear overnight but we’re committed to developing this project over the next 10 years. Join us on the journey and watch Top of the Woods get even wilder!
Local, eco gifts at the Reception Shop
As part of the community in Pembrokeshire, we’re always up for sharing the love for other sustainable businesses and encouraging guests to shop local.
Now your gift buying will be very local - at our new Reception Shop, showcasing products by local craftspeople and artisans. Look out for our own line of Top of the Woods camping merchandise and eco gifts too. Think tent tidies, washbags, and travel bags all made out of recycled Safari Tent materials.
Play-time just got better
The cheers of kids (and big kids) playing games on-site is the sound of the summer for us. What’s better than connecting with those you love, having a laugh, and a good dose of competitive fun? So we’re extending the covered games areas with a new range of board games and giant games for guests to play.
The challenge is on!
Green Office Retreats
As glamping and camping fans, we all know spending time in nature is good for us. But it seems it’s good for business too.
Over the last few years, we’ve been hosting more and more companies who want to reap the benefits of connecting on an outdoor team getaway. With hybrid and remote working now the norm, prioritising staff wellbeing and bringing teams together has never been more important.
Our Green Office Retreats offer bespoke team getaways for businesses, whether they need a fresh perspective on strategy, to connect remote teams, or reward staff for their hard work!
If you run your own business or work for a company that could benefit from an outdoor team getaway, find out more about our Green Office Retreats.

We’re hiring! Fancy being a live-in Camp Host?
The search is on for a live-in seasonal Camp Host. This is a pretty sweet opportunity for anyone interested in a career in sustainable tourism and the job comes with its own accommodation for the summer.
The successful person will help ensure our guests are happy on-site, working on housekeeping, food service, and reception as well as taking on a conservation role, helping to create our Wild Spaces trail. The role could start in the spring for 6 months, or from June for 3 months - depending on applicants’ circumstances.
If you’re interested, send an initial email to info@topofthewoods.co.uk, and please share with anyone you think would be up for the role.
What will grow in our Forest Garden?
The creation of our new Forest Garden is another step in our sustainable vision for Top of the Woods. Forest gardens offer a huge range of benefits for nature, wildlife, and us humans, offering a holistic approach to food production without any nasties and promoting biodiversity, resilience, and ecological harmony. All the good stuff.
Jon, our resident chef extraordinaire, is excited about having access to a wide range of edible crops — fruits, vegetables, herbs, and nuts. This will add another flavour to our guests’ stay!
As well as accessing the produce, you’ll be able to soak up the beauty and tranquillity of the forest garden, gathering for relaxation and contemplation as well as a sense of community and if you fancy you can help out with the project too.
Who fancies enjoying wild spaces with us?
It looks like we have another wild and wonderful decade coming up - supporting the wild spaces where people can connect in nature and with each other.
